HFMM 2024

Spring Retreat

  • What is the date and location for the HFMM 2024 Spring Retreat?
Date: Thursday, March 21st - Sunday, March 24th. Location: Hotel Cabanas Ros & Hotel Villas del Valle, Valle de Angeles, Francisco Morazan. (include a link to the hotel website) These hotels are located about 5 minutes apart from each other. Both will be used for lodging, and breakfast will be served at the hotel where you are staying. Hotel Cabanas Ros will be used for all of our adult and children’s sessions as well as all lunches and dinners. Hotel Villas del Valle will be used for all youth sessions and activities.
  • When and how can I register for the HFMM 2024 Spring Retreat?
All HFMM Members in good standing will be sent an email with the link to register via Eventbrite starting on Monday, February 5th at 10 am (Honduras time). You do not need to contact the hotel directly to make your reservation. You will want to register quickly to be able to guarantee your spot, as space is limited, and registration will close once all spaces are full or on March 4th , whichever comes first. There are separate tickets for adults, youth and children. Please include your whole family that will be attending in the same registration.
  • What if there are no more tickets available when I try to register?
If there are no more tickets available or if there are not enough tickets available for your whole family, please do not register only part of your family. Contact us directly (adriana.mattica@honduranfellowship.org) to be put on a waiting list in the order in which we have received your email, and you will be notified as soon as a spot is available.
  • Will there be another HFMM Retreat in 2024 if I cannot attend this one?
Yes, we are planning a second retreat in September 2024 for our members. We ask that you choose only one retreat to attend so that there is room for everyone. Dates and location for our Fall Retreat will be announced soon.
  • Is attending an HFMM Retreat a requirement of membership?
No, our retreats are a gift to and benefit for our members. They are an opportunity to disconnect from ministry and connect with other missionaries. You are highly encouraged to attend one if you can, as part of the vision of HFMM is to provide places and opportunities for our members to have fellowship with each other, but no, they are not required.
  • Can I register to attend if I am not a member of HFMM?
Yes, we would love to have you come and get to know us! However, we want to give our members the opportunity to register first, so we will open registration for non-members at a later time if there are still spots available. There are, however, a few parameters to qualify to attend: You (or at least one spouse) must be a full-time Christian missionary, from another country, serving in Honduras. You must list in your registration at least one current HFMM member who can serve as your reference. When you register, please be sure to select Non-Member Tickets.
  • Is there a cost to attend the HFMM 2024 Spring Retreat?
There is no cost for our members to attend this retreat. All costs have been covered by HFMM and by others who support this ministry.
  • What is included in this free retreat?
Three nights of lodging at either Hotel Cabanas Ros or Hotel Villas del Valle All meals (dinner Thursday - breakfast Sunday), coffee breaks & snacks However, transportation costs to and from the retreat are not included and must be arranged and paid for on your own.
  • What is the schedule for the retreat?
We will send a full schedule to all registered attendees once it is finalized, but here is what you can expect: Check-in & Registration begins at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 21st Evening sessions after dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights Morning sessions on Friday and Saturday Lots of free time to enjoy fellowship and family time at the hotel pool, explore the town of Valle de Angeles - or stay in your bed sleeping if you want - on Friday and Saturday afternoons Opportunities to meet privately with pastors, speakers, and/or HFMM staff for counsel, prayer and advice during free times - child care will be available if needed Check-out is at 10:00 am on Sunday, March 24th, after breakfast.
  • What if I can’t attend the entire 3 nights?
We highly encourage you to take the time to attend the whole retreat. If you cannot, we would still love to have you, but we ask that you wait one week from when you receive the registration information to reserve your spot, to give priority to those who can.
  • What will the lodging be like?
Both Hotel Cabanas Ros and Hotel Villas del Valle have rooms of varying sizes available for us to use. Depending on the size of your family, we will make sure you are assigned a room that will meet your needs. If you are single, you will most likely be sharing a room. Rooms will be assigned ahead of time, and we will let you know before the retreat which hotel you will be staying at. If you live locally, you are invited to stay with us at the hotel or to stay in your own home, whichever you would prefer. Just make sure you let us know when you register.
  • What about my children?
Bring them with you! HFMM Retreats are for the whole family! Childcare will be provided for infants and toddlers, and Kids Ministry and Youth Group will take place during all adult sessions. Times of fun, connection, fellowship, and ministry are just as important for our kids as for the adults.
  • What if my child has special needs or I have concerns?
When you complete the registration form for your child’s ticket to attend, you will be asked to share with us any additional information that you feel would be helpful for our Kids/Youth Ministry Team to be aware of, such as feeding and nap schedules (for babies) allergies, special needs, learning or other disabilities, etc.
  • Who will be caring for my children?
All of our Kids/Youth Ministry Team members have been vetted to serve in kids ministry, have submitted a background check, and have been made aware of our kids ministry policies. No one will have access to the area that our kids and youth will be meeting in other than Kids/Youth Ministry Team Members, HFMM event staff, and parents or guardians. All kids ages 0-11 must be signed in and out by the parent or guardian that is listed on their registration form.
  • What security measures will be in place?
Hotel Cabanas Ros, which will be our main campus, has given us full use of their hotel rooms, meeting rooms and spaces, but they might have other guests making use of the restaurant, pools, and other public areas at the same time we will be there. Please be aware of who is around and do not leave your personal belongings unattended. Hotel Villas de Valle will be reserved completely for HFMM members. Both hotels have a small pool. There are no life-guards at either pool, so please take caution when swimming, and do not allow children to swim or be at the pool unsupervised during the free times.
  • What if I still have questions?
If you have any additional questions or concerns that were not addressed, feel free to reach out to Adriana Mattica (adriana.mattica@honduranfellowship.org) and she would be happy to help you.
