HFMM
RETREAT
2026
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- 01Date: Thursday, September 24th - Sunday, September 27th. Location: Hotel Palma Real in La Ceiba, Atlántida: an all-inclusive beach resort (Visit the hotel's website)
- 02All HFMM Members in good standing will be sent an email with the link to register via Eventbrite starting on Tuesday, July 21st at 10 am (Honduras time). Please do not contact the hotel to make your reservation. We will make all the reservations for our attendees. You will want to register quickly to guarantee your spot, as space is limited, and registration will close once all spaces are full or on August 10, whichever comes first. There are separate tickets for adults, youth (ages 12-18), children (ages 6-11), and nursery/preschool (ages 0-5). Please include your whole family that will be attending in the same registration.
- 03If there are no more tickets available or if there are not enough tickets available for your whole family, please do not register only part of your family. Contact us directly (melodee.webb@honduranfellowship.org) to be put on a waiting list in the order in which we have received your email, and you will be notified as soon as a spot is available.
- 04We respectfully ask that if you attended the retreat in March 2026, you wait to register for the Beach Retreat until others have had a chance to do so. Once we have determined whether space is still available for more to register, we will send a second email, letting you know.
- 05No, our retreats are a benefit for our members. They are an opportunity to disconnect from ministry and connect with other missionaries. You are highly encouraged to attend one if you can, as part of the vision of HFMM is to provide places and opportunities for our members to have fellowship with each other, but no, they are not required.
- 06Yes, we would love to have other missionaries come and get to know us! However, we want to allow our members to register first, so we will open registration for non-members at a later time if there are still spots available. There are, however, a few parameters to qualify to attend: At least one spouse must be a full-time Christian missionary from another country, serving in Honduras. At least one current HFMM member must be listed in the registration who can serve as a reference. Non-member tickets will not receive the same discounted price for tickets as members.
- 07Yes, but in order to keep our retreats as affordable as possible, HFMM will cover the cost of two of the three nights for adults and kids ages 12 and up, and cover the entire cost of all children ages 11 and under. Children & Adults ages 12 and up: $130 a person Children ages 11 and under: FREE If you live in the area and would prefer to stay in your own home, your cost will only be $50 per person (ages 12 and up). You will receive a Day Pass for you to be able to attend the retreat, eat meals (lunch & dinner) with us, and have access to the beach and pool facilities during the free time. Scholarships are available for any members who would like to attend but cannot at this time afford to do so. Please contact Adriana Mattica (adriana.mattica@honduranfellowship.org) to be considered for a scholarship before completing your registration.
- 08Three nights of lodging at Hotel Palma Real. All meals (dinner Thursday - lunch Sunday), morning coffee breaks & snacks, and poolside snacks in the afternoon. Please inform the hotel restaurant staff of any food allergies at meal times. You do not need to contact the hotel ahead of time. Meals will be served buffet style, and there will be multiple options available at each meal. If your dietary needs cannot be accommodated with what is provided, they will make a special meal upon request. Access to pools, beaches, and hotel facilities during free time. * If you would like to take advantage of any of the excursions offered by the hotel, you will need to make your own arrangements and cover your own costs.
- 09Once you have registered for your tickets via Eventbrite, you will be sent an email with the information on how to make your payment through PayPal, with a specific link for the HFMM Events. Please use the link that we send you, not the PayPal links that are used for paying membership dues or residency fees. Please make the payment immediately following your registration to secure your place. Your place will not be reserved until payment has been received.
- 10Hotel Palma Real is a large resort area, and as other guests have reservations for the same weekend, we will be lodging in various locations across the resort property. If you have a medical reason or physical limitation that does not allow you to climb stairs easily or walk long distances, please let us know on your registration so the hotel can take that into consideration when making room reservations. Most of the rooms only have two double beds, but we will do our best to accommodate larger families as much as possible. If you have infants or small toddlers, we suggest bringing a pack and play. If you have more than two children or your children do not share a bed, we suggest bringing an air mattress with you. If you are attending alone, you will be placed with another missionary (of the same sex) in a room together. If you have a roommate preference, please let us know.
- 11We will send a full schedule to all registered attendees once it is finalized, but here is what you can expect: Check-in & Registration begins at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 24th Late afternoon/evening sessions before dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights Daytime sessions on Friday and Saturday Lots of free time over the weekend to enjoy fellowship and family time at the beach or pool - or in your bed sleeping if you want. There are no sessions on Sunday. Opportunities to meet privately with pastors, speakers, and/or HFMM staff for counsel, prayer, and advice during free time - child care will be available if needed Check-out is at 12:00 pm on Sunday, September 27th. Lunch will be served after check-out and is included with your stay.
- 12We highly encourage you to take the time to attend the whole retreat. If you cannot, we would still love to have you, but we ask that you wait one week from when you receive the registration information to reserve your spot, to give priority to those who can. The cost of the retreat will be the same whether you attend all 3 nights or not, but we ask that you inform us when registering how many nights you will be staying so that we can give the correct numbers to the hotel and we do not pay for nights you will not be there.
- 13Send us an email (melodee.webb@honduranfellowship.org) as soon as possible. We understand that family and ministry emergencies happen. If you need to cancel your reservation, we'd like to make your spot available to someone on our waitlist and refund your money. However, if you cancel after August 30th, we will not be able to give you a refund, as we have to make our final payment to the hotel by that date. If your arrival or departure date changes from your initial registration, it is important that you inform us in advance as that will affect the overall cost that HFMM will need to pay.
- 14Bring them with you! HFMM Retreats are for the whole family! Childcare will be provided for infants and toddlers, and Kids Ministry and Youth Group will take place during all adult sessions. Times of fun, connection, fellowship, and ministry are just as important for our kids as for the adults.
- 15When you complete the registration form for your child’s ticket to attend, you will be asked to share with us any additional information that you feel would be helpful for our Kids/Youth Ministry Team to be aware of, such as feeding and nap schedules (for babies), allergies, special needs, behavioral concerns, learning or other disabilities. If your child requires special care, one-on-one companionship, or has physical or mental disabilities, please contact Adriana Mattica directly (adriana.mattica@honduranfellowship.org) so that we can work together to create a plan for them to attend and receive the support they need.
- 16All of our Kids/Youth Ministry Team members have been vetted to serve in kids ministry, have submitted a background check, and have been made aware of our kids ministry policies. No one will have access to the area that our kids and youth will be meeting in other than Kids/Youth Ministry Team Members, HFMM event staff, and parents or guardians. All kids ages 0-11 must be signed in and out by the parent or guardian that is listed on their registration form.
- 17We have paid for full and exclusive use of the meeting rooms at Hotel Palma Real, but they will have other guests staying in the hotel and making use of the restaurant, pools, beach, and other areas at the same time we will be there. There are no lifeguards at either the pools or the beach, so please use caution when swimming, and do not allow children to swim or be at the beach or pool unsupervised during the free times. Please do not leave your personal belongings unattended. HFMM cannot be held responsible for any incidents involving your safety or well-being. All areas where the children’s ministry will be taking place will require a sign-in and out for all children attending. Only HFMM staff, event/hotel staff, and parents/guardians of the children in that area will be allowed to enter.
- 18If you have any additional questions or concerns that were not addressed, feel free to reach out to Adriana Mattica (adriana.mattica@honduranfellowship.org), and she would be happy to help you.
