What is the date and location for the September 2023 HFMM Beach Retreat?Date: Thursday, September 21st - Sunday, September 24th. Location: La Ceiba - Hotel Palma Real in La Ceiba, Atlantida: an all-inclusive beach resort (https://grupopalmareal.com/)
-
When and how can I register for the September 2023 HFMM Beach Retreat? All HFMM Members in good standing will be sent an email with the link to register via Eventbrite starting on Monday, July 31 at 9 am (Honduras time). You do not need to contact the hotel directly to make your reservation. You will want to register quickly to be able to guarantee your spot, as space is limited, and registration will close once all spaces are full or on August 15th, whichever comes first. There are separate tickets for adults and children. Please include your whole family that will be attending in the same registration.
-
What if there are no more tickets available when I try to register? If there are no more tickets available or if there are not enough tickets available for your whole family, please do not register only part of your family. Contact us directly (adriana.mattica@honduranfellowship.org) to be put on a waiting list in the order in which we have received your email, and you will be notified as soon as a spot is available.
-
Can I register to attend if I have already attended a HFMM Retreat this year?We would respectfully ask that if you attended the Retreat in Tegucigalpa in March that you wait to register for the September Retreat until others have had a chance to do so. Once we have determined whether there is still space available for more to register, we will send out a second email, letting you know.
-
Can I register to attend if I am not a member of HFMM?Yes, we would love to have you come and get to know us! However, we want to give our members the opportunity to register first, so we will open registration for non-members at a later time if there are still spots available. There are, however, a few parameters to qualify to attend: You (or at least one spouse) must be a full-time Christian missionary, from another country, serving in Honduras. You must list in your registration at least one current HFMM member who can serve as your reference. When you register, please be sure to select Non-Member Tickets.
-
Is there a cost to attend the HFMM Beach Retreat?Yes, while HFMM loves to provide retreats to our members at no cost, there will be a small cost to attend this particular retreat. We are offering you a “Buy One Night, Get Two Free” price for adults and kids ages 13 and up. HFMM will cover the cost of your other two nights as well as the entire cost of children ages 12 and under. Children & Adults ages 13 and up: $75 a person Children ages 12 and under: FREE If you live in the area and would prefer to stay in your own home, your cost will only be $25 per person (ages 13 and up). You will receive a Day Pass for you to be able to attend the retreat, eat meals with us, and have access to the beach and pool facilities during the free times. Scholarships are available for any members who would like to attend but cannot at this time afford to do so. Please contact John Mattica (john.mattica@honduranfellowship.org) to be considered for a scholarship.
-
What is included in the cost of the retreat?Three nights of lodging at Hotel Palma Real All meals (dinner Thursday - lunch Sunday), morning coffee breaks & snacks, and pool-side snacks in the afternoon Please inform the hotel restaurant staff of any food allergies at meal times. Meals will be served buffet style, and there will be multiple options available at each meal. If your dietary needs cannot be accommodated with what is provided, they will make a special meal upon request. Access to pools, beaches, and hotel facilities during free times If you would like to take advantage of any of the excursions offered by the hotel, you will need to make your own arrangements and cover your own costs
-
How do I pay for the retreat?Once you have registered for your tickets via Eventbrite, you will be sent an email with the information on how to make your payment through PayPal, with a specific link for the HFMM Events. Please do not use our regular PayPal links for membership dues or residency fees. Please make the payment immediately following your registration to secure your place.
-
What is the schedule for the retreat? We will send a full schedule to all registered attendees once it is finalized, but here is what you can expect: Check-in & Registration begins at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 21st Evening sessions after dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights Morning sessions on Friday and Saturday Lots of free time to enjoy fellowship and family time at the beach or pool - or in your bed sleeping if you want - on Friday and Saturday afternoons, as well as all morning on Sunday Opportunities to meet privately with pastors, speakers, and/or HFMM staff for counsel, prayer, and advice during free times - child care will be available if needed Check-out is at 12:00 pm on Sunday, September 24th
-
What if I can’t attend the entire 3 nights? We highly encourage you to take the time to attend the whole retreat. If you cannot, we would still love to have you, but we ask that you wait one week from when you receive the registration information to reserve your spot, to give priority to those who can. The cost of the retreat will be the same whether you attend all 3 nights or not.
-
What if, after I register, I find out I cannot attend? If you have registered and then later find that you cannot attend, please send us an email (adriana.mattica@honduranfellowship.org) as soon as possible. We understand that family and ministry emergencies happen, and we'd like to make your spot available to someone on our waitlist and refund your money via PayPal. However, if you cancel after September 1st, we will not be able to give you a refund, as we have to make our final payment to the hotel by that date.
-
What about my children?Bring them with you! HFMM Retreats are for the whole family! Childcare will be provided for infants and toddlers, and Kids Ministry and Youth Group will take place during all adult sessions. Times of fun, connection, fellowship, and ministry are just as important for our kids as for the adults.
-
What if my child has special needs or I have concerns? When you complete the registration form for your child’s ticket to attend, you will be asked to share with us any additional information that you feel would be helpful for our Kids/Youth Ministry Team to be aware of, such as feeding and nap schedules (for babies) allergies, special needs, learning or other disabilities, or if you would like to request that they be placed in a different age group, etc.
-
Who will be caring for my children? All of our Kids/Youth Ministry Team members have been vetted to serve in kids ministry, have submitted a background check, and have been made aware of our kids ministry policies. No one will have access to the area that our kids and youth will be meeting in other than Kids/Youth Ministry Team Members, HFMM event staff, and parents or guardians. All kids ages 0-11 must be signed in and out by the parent or guardian that is listed on their registration form.
-
What security measures will be in place?Hotel Palma Real has given us full use of their meeting rooms and spaces, but they will most likely have other guests staying in the hotel and making use of the restaurant, pools, beach, and other areas at the same time we will be there. There are no life-guards at either the pools or the beach, so please take caution when swimming, and do not allow children to swim or be at the beach or pool unsupervised during the free times. Please do not leave your personal belongings unattended.
-
What if I still have questions? If you have any additional questions or concerns that were not addressed, feel free to reach out to Adriana Mattica (adriana.mattica@honduranfellowship.org) and she would be happy to help you.
